Hair Care with Claire

If you know me, you know I'm pretty low-maintenance. Same thing with my hair care! I keep things pretty simple. This is what I do (and don't do) with my hair.

I don't color my hair. In fact, I've never colored my hair. Leaving my hair its natural color saves me time and money. (See the trend? I'm lazy!) And coloring your hair can be hard on it, especially if you're going lighter. Not coloring my hair is an effortless way to keep it looking healthy. I just get trims when the ends start to look ragged.

I rarely blow-dry my hair. Again, this is partly because I can't be bothered, and partly because it's better for your hair. Any time you're heating your hair - blow-drying, straightening, curling - it damages the shaft. I'm lucky that my hair air-dries pretty well, so I just don't fight it. Most days I air-dry it and leave it down, or I pile it up on top of my head in a messy bun. Easy-peasy.

When I do get dressed up and do my hair, I like to wear it in big, loose curls. I use a 1.5" curling iron, finger-comb it out, and spritz it with hairspray. Done!

Dove Dry Shampoo

I go through dry shampoo fast. Dove is cheap (like under $5 cheap) and it works. And it doesn't leave white streaks in my dark hair. Sold!

Amika Silken Up Dry Conditioner

You've heard of dry shampoo. Dry conditioner is a game changer. You spray dry shampoo on your roots where oil builds up. You spray dry conditioner on the ends of your hair where there's the most breakage. Amika helps me keep split ends at bay and doesn't weigh down my hair.

L'Oreal Elnett Hairspray

This is an industry staple for a reason! It provides great hold without looking stiff or feeling sticky.

Neutrogena T-Sal Therapeutic Shampoo

Real talk: everyone gets flakey from time to time. If it's chronic or excessive, we call it dandruff. I use this shampoo once a week to help fight dry scalp and product buildup. The easiest way to fight dandruff is just to prevent it.

Aveda Invati Exfoliating Shampoo

I only use this shampoo a couple times a month. This product is great if, like me, you only wash your hair a few times a week and you need to reset your scalp.
