Fall Favorites

I grew up on a river in Montana, so I have pretty high standards for "the scenic outdoors", but man, Utah is gorgeous right now! Jordan and I like to take Sunday drives when it's nice out like this. (They used to be Sunday hikes, but Baby Craig is currently eating up my energy, so car rides it is!) And who doesn't love fall? I've been thinking about some of my favorite fall things and memories to share with you. What's your favorite thing about this season?! (Pretty much everything? Yeah, me too.)

I love fall, but honestly, I'm kind of a Halloween weenie. I don't like scary movies (even Hocus Pocus is a little spooky for me,) and I'm a little lazy when it comes to costumes. When I was little, I wore the same one-piece pumpkin costume three years in a row because it was easy! But my sister-in-law (the very talented make-up artist Jessica!) throws an annual themed Halloween party every year and it is so fun, so I make it a point to dress up for that! Pregnancy brain is really doing a number on me right now, so if anyone has any couple's costume ideas for this year's Rockstars themed party, that would be greatly appreciated, haha!

There are lots of other things besides Halloween to be excited about though. I found the best smelling fall candle at Home Goods. Like, it was so good that I got on Amazon and bought another one. You can snag one for yourself here. And this is the season to wear deliciously comfy, over-sized sweaters. And plaid. You can never go wrong with a good plaid! I find the best ones at H&M (I'm loving this one and this one )and Billabong, but in the men's section. That's a pro-tip for ya! (This one is a classic.) Throw on a pair of leggings and booties, and you're good to go! I also rock a lot of beanies this time of year too. They keep you warm and cover up unwashed hair. Perfection.

I don't bake much usually, but something about fall makes me want to turn my oven on! I bake a homemade apple pie every year for Thanksgiving. Then I go to Costco to buy one of their pumpkin pies, haha! It's delicious and feeds like 12 people, so don't judge me! My brother likes it with about half a can of whipped cream. And my family always makes homemade cranberry sauce. If you've never tried it, it is nothing like the canned version, and it is so easy to make! I'm actually kind of curious to try making sugared cranberries. Anybody ever made those? Got a good recipe?

I also love this season because we're gearing up for Christmas! Fun fact: gift-giving is totally my love language, so planning my wishlists and shopping for my family is kind of a big deal. And this Christmas I'll be about 6 months pregnant, so it will be like having my own personal heater with me wherever I go! I get cold really easily, so I'm actually looking forward to this. (Remember the pregnancy challenge I issued myself? You can read about it here. I'm practicing looking for the positives of being pregnant!)

I'm loving this time of year currently, but I'm really excited for fall next year! I'm already planning our family photos so we can share our first official Craig Family Christmas cards. I always felt a little weird sending out a card with a picture of just me and Jordan, but I'm going to want everyone to see how cute our baby is, so there will definitely be cards next year! And I'm betting I'll be much more into Halloween if I have an adorable baby to dress up! And Christmas morning with a baby?! Guys, I am just looking forward to so many things. I can't wait to start family traditions and make memories with our little gummy bear. April can't get here fast enough. Until then, I guess I can enjoy the scenery and eat everything pumpkin-flavored. They make for pretty great distractions. Happy fall, y'all!
