Lake Powell on Labor Day

Growing up in Montana, I didn't go boating much. There are lakes in Montana, but they tend to be of the "glacial" variety. (AKA: they're freezing cold, even in summer.) Luckily for me, I married into a family that loves to get out on the water! Jordan grew up taking trips to Lake Powell, and his family still caravans south a few times a year to go boating. Now I get to join in the fun too! If you've never been to Lake Powell, it's kind of other-worldly. It's stark desert and red rock sandstone surrounding deep, blue water. And the lake itself isn't a nice little circular body of water. Lake Powell is enormous, and there's tons of canyons and offshoots to explore. I've been going for a few years now and I've only seen a small portion of the whole lake.

One of my favorite things about going to Lake Powell is the chance for Jordan and I to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of our everyday life and to reconnect with each other. We just have so much fun when we're out on the lake together.

A huge thank you to Khongboon Swimwear and Roxy for hooking me up this season! Wearing a swimsuit you feel comfortable in makes such a huge difference in how much you enjoy yourself! (The suit on the left is the Devan from Khongboon Swimwear. Click here to view it! On the right is the Pop Surf One-Piece from Roxy. Click here to check it out.) These suits stayed with me through hours of play, surf, sweat, and even a couple naps.

Jordan is awesome at wake-boarding and wake-surfing. Being naturally competitive, I was determined to keep up with him! It took a few tries, but I've learned how to do them too. (I  mean, I'm not as good as Jordan is, but I take comfort thinking that he had a good 15-year head start, haha.)

There's so much to do, things are never boring at Powell. If we're not out on the water, we're out hiking, playing games, or trying out restaurants in our swimsuits. (When you get done with a long day of wake-surfing and you're starving, you don't waste time changing. You drive right to where the food is!) I'm lucky to be part of such a fun loving and active family.

This last weekend was an absolute dream. I'm so glad we got to go down one more time to wave good-bye to summer! Until next time, Powell! You were beautiful, as always.
